I hate the systematic oppression of anyone who isn’t white.
I hate the brainwashing of our children into people who hate themselves. I hate the billion dollar skin bleaching industry that tells my sisters that their skin is ugly and to be accepted as beautiful they have to literally burn their skin. I hate the exploitation of workers in nations that don’t have protective laws in place to save them from being overworked and underpaid and abused. I hate the ruins that colonialism has left the Middle East in. I hate the people who other me everytime they ask “Where are you from?”, reaffirming that to them I’ll never belong here. I hate the people who yell “go back to your country” at me, as though their tax dollars aren’t what’s insuring the inhospitable nature of my home land. I hate that black people can be killed in cold blood or on the assumption of their “danger” and get away completely free, with no consequences. I hate that a young scared black woman can be shot from a porch simply for daring to approach a house for help after a car accident, and that her murderer could get away with it. I hate that Asian women are stereotyped and fetishized as submissive sex slaves who will do anything to please the white man and the danger this causes to their lives. I hate that brown women wearing traditional clothing can be treated rudely, made fun of, shouted at, pushed and pulled at, beaten, all because they dared show their heritage and culture. I hate hearing stories of little black and brown girls scrubbing at their skin in the hopes of being lighter and more loved.
I hate hearing about Muslim women getting their hijabs torn off their heads, I hate having random racist white men yell at me on the streets of downtown, I hate having people scream at me from their cars and give me the finger, I hate being told someone would rather take away my rights than face discomfort at having their worldview changed.
We are all equal, but we’re not treated as such. White people have all the power and use it to rule and break everyone else. That’s what I hate.
